Brexit Statistics
Paste up

Brexit has stirred many voices and from the pro-european side a great creative movement has been gaining momentum. The visual identity of the remain side is strong and full of positive imagery, however when you look to the identity of the ‘Brexiteers’ not much springs to mind. This project looks to identify and illustrate what this cultural-subgroup might look like.

I asked a series of questions to people who voted ‘leave’ on the 23rd June 2016 and the statistics that were collected became the subject of the paste-ups. The questions asked were all of a trivial nature.

On the various dates when the statistics were pasted up around the city I was met with a lot of hostility, I found the reactions to the work provocative. Due to the sensitive nature of the topic reactions were very divided. Most of the posters did not last long as many were agressively ripped down hours after their installation. The debates that the paste-ups ignited in the street were very interesting, it was a great oppertunity to engage in the political veiws of the community and get real-time reactions to my work.
